Rui Ponte joined Penney Design Group in 2016, bringing with him years of experience as a practicing architect. He is actively involved in the design and construction management of various building types. After founding his own firm in 1989, Mr. Ponte guided its strategic direction before selling it to a national A/E firm. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong client base of private and institutional clients who appreciate his technical expertise, design acumen, and construction management skills.
Mr. Ponte holds a Master of Architecture, graduating summa cum laude, as well as a Bachelor of Architecture, graduating cum laude, from the Tulane School of Architecture in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also earned a B.S. in Architecture from the School of Engineering at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
As a registered architect in several states, is also certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and is a member of the America Institute of Architects. His work has garnered numerous awards, including recognition from the New Jersey Society of Architects, the Western Colorado Society of Architects, and the Washington Business Journal, among others. Additionally, he has been honored with the Home & Design Top Designer accolade and received an Honorable Mention in the Residential Architect Design Awards.
Mr. Ponte’s projects and insights have been featured in various prestigious publications, including Design New York Magazine, Inform Magazine, Home & Design Magazine, Washington Spaces Magazine, Southern Living Magazine, Metropolitan Home Magazine, New Jersey Living Magazine, and the New England Design Review.
Mr. Ponte is fluent in written and verbal Portuguese, Spanish and French.
