Ann Cederna joined Penney Design Group in 2024. She is a dedicated and experienced architect with years of experience serving in the professional practice of architecture as principal of her firm Frederick & Cederna Architects. In addition, Ms. Cederna has worked for years as professor and associate dean at The Catholic University of America’s School of Architecture and Planning. Ms. Cederna’s background includes creating powerful projects in the fields of urban planning, architectural design, and industrial design, with a strong overview of current digital design and modern building technologies. She enjoys working with architecture and engineering teams, corporate administrations, and clients, to successfully execute projects from inception to implementation. She is a knowledgeable, practiced, and innovative leader and designer that is well versed in all disciplines of architecture, engineering, and interior design. Ms. Cederna is a committed professional, passionate about working to further enhance commercial and private sectors, the community, and the built environment, through design and excellence in architecture.

Ms. Cederna holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Cornell University. She is a registered architect in several states, is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Throughout her career, Ms. Cederna has received numerous accolades, including the Virginia Chapter AIA Award for her project at National Airport, the Maryland Outstanding Rehabilitation Project Award for an office renovation in Hagerstown MD, and the Virginia AIA Built Award for the Georgetown Residence in DC. She won First Place in the Office Competition in Italy, received the NYC AIA Award for the Le Canalou Residence in Maryland, and was the recipient of the Young Architects Award sponsored by the NYC Young Architects Forum.

Ms. Cederna is fluent in written and verbal Italian and German.
